"After working for over 29 1/2 years with AT&T, I became ill and I needed to utilize my STD benefits. Not once did Sedgwick try to assist me with my claim. All they did was delay, deny, disrespect me. They asked for information, but wouldnt tell you what. I would send documentation that they would say they never recieved. They lied to my boss saying I would be returning to work even though my doctors never released me and before my appeal process was denied. I was never given the opportunity to be evaluated by an IME as stated in my SPD. I requested, from Sedgwick on Oct. 27, 2008 all documents and medical records that were used in the denial of my original claim. This information was needed to prepare my appeal. I sent this request to them by fax which they confirmed receipt by phone conversation. I also sent a certified letter requesting this documentation. On Jan. 12, 2009 I received a letter stating that they had received my request for this information on Oct. 27,2008, and that I would receive them in 14 days. These records arrived FEDEX the same day Jan. 12,2009 These records arrived almost 3 months after my request and 30 days after my appeal was denied After being told my appeal was denied and that I wasnt sick, SUSAN THE SEDGTHUG, called 911 from Texas, (I live in Missouri)and Susan the Sedgthug told them their was a medical emergency at our house. On one hand they say I am not sick and the next minute they are calling an ambulance. I was forced to return to work on Dec. 22, 2008 against my doctors orders. I was told to return to work or face termination. On that same day I was laid off. I was 45 days short of having enough years of service plus my age to receive my full pension. My boss knew I was on the surplus list in July or Aug. of 2008. I went out sick on Aug. 28, 2008. I truly believe the reason I was denied STD benefits was that there was no way AT&T going to let me go out on disability when they knew I was being surplused. AT&T WANTED ME BACK AT WORK IRREGARDLESS OF MY MEDICAL CONDITION. THE REASON WAS TO KEEP ME FROM REACHING MY 30 YEAR MARK AND MY FULL PENSION. I believe that AT&T and Sedgwick CMS worked hand in hand in the denial of my health benefits, to keep me from making my 30 years and my full pension."

I DID SOME CHECKING AND FOUND OUT SEDGWICK AND UNITED HEATH CARE ARE IN BED TOGETHER (LOOK IT UP ) LOOK UP THE JURIS PROGRAM .WHO OWNS WHO'S STOCKS .I HAVE ASKED MY SENATOR TO INVESTIGATE THIS WHOLE CROOKED DEAL AND IF HE WONT I'M TAKING IT TO THE MEDIA, THEN LET ALL THE DIRT COME OUT AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY SCREWED OVER THE YEARS. DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT LOOK IT UP THEN CALL YOUR SENATOR, THAT IS IF HE'S NOT GETTING KICK BACKS TOO."

I will be in your shoes in about 2 weeks when I cannot pay the rent due to being cut off from WC IC, (money cut off - not medical). I won't be getting any more checks apparently and they don't have to tell you that until after the determination from what I've heard. I received the advice to call all the churches around me and apply for emergency help with the rent and electricity. Please do that - call your local community action groups (listed in phone books). Look up Food Banks in the yellow pages - people have told me they are wonderful. we can only try to encourage and comfort each other - I can't even get a decent lawyer to take my case !!
Call the Kiwanis, Rotary, Salvation Army and Catholic churches have a great many charities. Interfaith Caregivers would be another one. You are not alone - if you move to AZ you can share my 2 bedroom apt - maybe between us we could scrape enough together to keep it"

"Sedgwick CMS denied a workers compensation case for a 3.5' L-shaped Rotator Cuff tear in left shoulder. I was working at Home Depot & suffered a torn Rotator Cuff & LAC Osteoarthritis. I am right handed, but picked up a small item with my left hand because it was closest.
I remember a bolt of pain strike my entire left side, I screamed & just kept screaming. I am not one to usually make a scene, but I had co-workers running to try & help me. The pain was intense. I could not move my arm at all. This happened on June 26, 2005, today is August 2, 2008.
I will admit originally the injury report stated I had a 'heart attack' Only the HRM knew this because he wrote it. (thought injury would look bad on the company books).
But my doctor in the morning wrote out a slip for shoulder injury to give to Home Depot. It was not until 7/15/2005 that I found the DX error, but I notified Sedgwick with-in the hour. They said they would correct it on the computer before I hung up. Home Depot was also notified. My doctor ordered a MRI to r/o tear, request denied. My surgeon ordered MRI twice, denied, Sedgwick's IME doctor also requested, denied.
On my third court date with lawyer in Feburary 2006 the judge ordered the MRI to be covered. Eight months for MRI, Ten months for surgery.
Two months after that I lost my job as it had been an entire year later.
The deltoid muscle needed to be split in surgery, very painful! And surgery failure May 2007. Confirmed by MRI 6/2007. Case closed 7/2007.  August 2008 claim still in worker's comp review. With 10th court date coming up. No monies coming in."

Just being recently employed at the Atlanta office, I can assure you that you must be ready to give your life to SCMS. Depending on the position you're offered, either salary or hourly, the expectations are high and the demand is feirce far beyond any other organization. The workload is intense and you are not allowed to leave until all work is completed, otherwise, corrective action will begin. Out of the four accounts serviced in the atlanta office, each one is severly understaffed and the typical response from management is "the account does not allow for additional staffing".. So there you go. If you're ready to work 10 -12 hours a day plus weekends for a work week that's supposed to 37.5 and work off a salary with no overtime, good luck.

And by the way, turnover is very high.
